Lotus Seed

Lotus Seed is the story of a farmer and his struggle to make ends meet. The story begins with the farmer waking up on a cold winter morning to find his crops destroyed by hail. He is at a loss, but one day, he has a revelation. He notices that the hailstone was not round, but in the shape of a lotus seed. The seed is now his new symbol for luck and the farmer decides to plant a lotus seed on each of his farms thirty acres. As the farmers luck improves, so does the quality of his crops and his familys financial situation. The farmer has never had to worry about being hungry, as he never lacked for food. But, as the years pass, the farmers family is becoming increasingly dependent on the farms production. This dependency causes conflict within the family and leads to a tragic end.
