Onion Seed

The onion seed is a small, thin, dry fruit, round in shape. The onion seed is about 2-3 cm in diameter and 1 cm thick. Onions grow from the seeds in an elongated scallion-like shape. The green leaves of the plant protect the tiny white flowers that are fertilized by pollen. The flowers produce an elongated brown seed pod that ripens to yellow and then orange.
